Porcelain Crowns, Veneers & Dental Bridges
What is a Crown or Bridge?
A dental crown or bridge is sometimes necessary to restore and repair teeth that are fractured or have extensive decay. When a tooth is severely damaged or fractured, a dental crown is the best option for restoring it back to a healthy and usable state.
A dental crown or bridge is cemented to the entirety of the tooth and looks exactly like a tooth. At Elevate Dental Group, we use only Australian ceramic laboratories to provide custom-made layered porcelain with accurate shade matching. No one will be able to tell you have one!
There are a few different options for a dental crown including porcelain, metal or gold. The materials all have their advantages and disadvantages, but our dentists can explain in great detail with you during your appointment.

Benefits of a Crown or Bridge
✓ Repair & Restore Teeth – Crowns & bridges can be used to repair entirely any damage a tooth has sustained. Whether it is fractured severely or half of it has broken off, crowns can restore teeth to its original state and protect it from further damage.
✓ Improve Your Smile & Improve Cosmetic Appearance – Crowns & bridges can be used to improve the appearance of your smile. If your teeth are severely discoloured or badly shaped, crowns & bridges can be used to restore harmony to your smile and improve the aesthetics.
✓ Support Other Dental Treatment – Crowns & Bridges can be used in conjunction with porcelain veneers, implants or dentures to supplement and strengthen the treatment. It is often used after a root canal therapy has been done on a tooth to protect and preserve its underlying structure.

What To Expect During the Procedure
Your crown or bridge treatment will be done over 2 appointments.
- Once a dental crown or bridge is recommended, the tooth will be examined with visual assessment and x-rays will be taken.
- Our dentist will then discuss different material options (with its pros and cons) and photos will be taken before.
- Our dentist will then ensure that the tooth is completely numb (local anaesthesia) and then the tooth is gently reduced to create space for the crown.
- An impression or scan is then sent to our local dental ceramic laboratory for custom fabrication of your crown or bridge. A temporary crown will be placed while the permanent crown is made.
- The final crown will be cemented and checked for form and function in a follow up appointment in 1-2 weeks. Once complete, you can return home and final post-operative instructions will be given to you.

FAQs
During the procedure, our dentists will ensure that you are completely numb (we have strong anaesthesia) to ensure you will not feel anything during the procedure.
If properly taken care of (regular check ups, flossing regularly), a crown or bridge can last at least 5-10 years.
A crown will last a lot longer than the large filling or temporary filling that is used to repair the fractured or broken tooth. You may need to get the broken tooth refilled 3-4 times over a 10 year period which is already more than the cost of a crown.
Just like normal teeth, crowns and bridges can chip and fracture if not taken care of properly.
Crowns are just like other teeth. A standard daily regime of flossing, brushing and regular check ups twice a year will suffice in keeping your crown for as long as possible.
